Email validation API

Email validation API

An Email Validation API is a service that checks whether an email address is valid and deliverable – typically in real time. It can be integrated into signup forms, CRMs, or internal tools to prevent invalid or mistyped addresses from entering your system.

Validation APIs often check for:

  • Syntax errors and malformed addresses
  • Typos or misspelled domains (e.g., gmaol.com)
  • Disposable or temporary email services
  • Mailbox existence and domain status via SMTP ping
  • Optional: flagging of role addresses, though these are not inherently invalid

While useful, an email validation API only assesses deliverability, not intent or consent. It won’t tell you whether the address belongs to someone who wants to receive your emails.

For best results, validation should be paired with confirmed opt-in and engagement-based list management.
