Confirmed opt-in

Confirmed opt-in

Confirmed opt-in, also known as double opt-in, is a subscription process that requires users to verify their email address before being added to a mailing list. This extra step helps ensure the subscriber truly wants to receive emails and that the address provided is valid.

Here’s how it works:

  1. A user enters their email address in a signup form (e.g., on a website).
  2. The system sends a confirmation email to that address.
  3. The user must click a link or button in the email to confirm their subscription.

Only after this confirmation is the email address added to the list. This process improves list quality, reduces spam complaints, and protects against malicious or mistyped signups.
