Email harvesting

Email harvesting

Email harvesting is the unethical and potentially illegal practice of collecting email addresses without consent, typically through scraping websites, forums, or databases, with the intent to send unsolicited messages (spam or malware).

Harvesting is strictly prohibited under Mailgun’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and can lead to immediate suspension or termination of service. It is also a leading cause of deliverability issues, blocklisting, and spam trap hits.

Responsible senders should grow their lists through consensual, permission-based methods and regularly clean their data to ensure compliance and inbox placement.
