Automation flow

Automation flow

An automation flow is a pre-configured sequence of actions triggered by user behavior or system events, most commonly used in email marketing to deliver relevant, timely messages without manual effort. In email programs, automation flows can be as simple as a welcome series triggered by a new subscriber, or as complex as a multi-branch journey based on product interactions, inactivity, or user segmentation. These flows often integrate with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, e-commerce platforms, or CPaaS systems to unify user data and tailor communications.

Common email automation flows include:

  • Welcome series
  • Cart abandonment follow-ups
  • Post-purchase engagement
  • Reactivation campaigns

The goal of these flows is to build trust, drive conversations, and scale outreach, all without sacrificing personalization.
