Spam
Spam refers to unwanted, unsolicited email, typically sent in bulk. Most spam is commercial in nature, but it can also include phishing attempts or malware-laden content.
Inbox service providers (ISPs) use filters to identify spam and prevent it from reaching users’ inboxes. Senders who ignore best practices – like sending without permission, using shady tactics, or targeting outdated lists – risk having their messages filtered as spam.
Over time, high spam complaint rates, poor engagement, or sending to spam traps can damage a domain’s sender reputation, leading to deliverability issues or even getting blocklisted.
